BOROUGH AFFAIRS
PAPAKURA COUNCIL MEETS GENERAL BUSINESS The Papakura Borough Council held its fortnightly, meeting this week, the Mayor, Mr S. Evans, presiding. Also present were: Messrs H. J. Graham, G. B. Bryant. 1. Mack. F. G. Mullins. J. A. Wishart. F. IT. Brownhill, W. G. Mark wick and I). McKenzie, together with the clerk (Mr A. L, Cooper) and foreman (Mr M. J. Finn).
Orphanage collection: A request from the Auckland Orphanages United 'Council for permission to take up a street collection in Papakura about September 26 was granted.
Unsightly garage: The district engineer of Ihe New Zealand Railways. Mr Jt. W. Beasley, notified the council Dial in connection with the garage erected on the railway property, he had to advise that the occupier had been instructed lo remove the present one. and if he decides lo erect another in ifs place, it must conform lo Hie borough bylaws. —Received.
