OBITUARY

-MRS -LUCY Me WATT FRANKLIN PIONEER PASSES 'The death occurred at Auckland on Monday of Mrs Lucy McWatt, aged 78, a pioneer of the Franklin district. She was the only daughter of the late Mr William Ponsford, who came to New Zealand in 1864, and served in the Maori War, later settling at Kohekohe, near Waiuku. Mrs McWatt was married at Kohekohe, and her first home with her husband, the late Mr Robert McWatt, was at Te Toro, a few miles from there. Later they were for many years at the Elbow, Puni, after whioh they came to Edinburgh Street North, Pukekohe, where they lived in retirement for some years. Mrs McWatt, who was well-known and highly esteemed throughout the Franklin district, is survived by four sons and five daughters and a number of grandchildren of grandchildren. Her husband predeceased'her by some years,The funeral took place at Pukekohe yesterday.

MRS A. J. WATSON The death occurred at a private hospital, Auckland, yesterday, of Mrs Mabel Watson, wife of Mr Albert John Watson, of Pukekohe. Mrs Watson who had been in indifferent health for some time, is survived by her husband, one son—Aircraftsman Verdun Watson of the R.N.Z.A.F.—and one daughter, Miss Jean Watson. The family is very well-known throughout the district.
