TRAFFIC OFFENCES
COLLISION IN KING STREET .MOTOR CYCLIST AND SPEED IGNORANCE OF LAW Frank Jones appeared in the Magistfate’s Court at Pukekohe on Wednesday as a result of a collision in King street on December 21 last. In evidence it was state'll that defendant pulled out from the " kerb without giving adequate warning to oncoming traffic and collided with another car proceeding up King street. Damage to the passing car was assessed at £5. Defendant was fined £1 and costs 10s. A further charge of exceeding thd statutory speed limit of 40 m.p.h. on a motor cycle with a pillion passenger was preferred against Leonard Casey. Inspector N. C. Davenport said that on January 2 he saw defendant riding a motor cycle with a pillion passenger at: Pokeno, travelling at high speed. On taking a check defendant’s speed was found to be 52 m.p.h. Traffic was heavy and the road wet, the inspector added.
When stopped defendant said that he did not know of the regulation. He was fined £1 10s and costs.
