WH AEM GAR AT A NEWS SCHOOL PICNIC RESIDENTS FAREWELLED The Whangarata school’s annual picnic was held at Clark’s beach recently. The day was fine, the tide was good and an enjoyable day was spent. About 100 people attended. Farewell to Mr and Mrs N. D. Coad The Whangarata hall was filled to capacity on the occasion of the farewell social evening tendered to Mr and Mrs N. D. Coad. Tuakau and Pokeno districts were well represented. During the evening Mr J. Fulton, on be- ; half of the residents, handed to Mr Coad a handsome Westminster chiming clock. In a happy speech Mr Fulton spoke of the esteem in which the guests and their parents are held by residents. After musical honours were accorded, Mr Coad suitably replied. -;.~ Mrs A. Smeed, on behalf of the W.D.F.U,, handed to Mrs Coad a pair of crystal vases, adding that in two years Mrs Coad had not missed a meeting of the branch. Mrs Coad replied. Miss B. Holland, Messrs B. Gower, J Pirret and company provided excellent music, extras being played by Miss K. Randall, Mr Neal and Miss M. Neal. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne brought a very pleasant function to a close about 1 p.m.

Benzine Tins at a Premium

Benzine tins are at a premium in Whangarata. Residents are preparing to welcome home the newest newly-weds.

* ONEWHERO NOTES NEW CROQUET GREEN PART OF RESERVE ALLOCATED The Onewhero Domain Board at a full meeting of members on Monday night, decided to give sufficient ground for the formation of a new croquet green on the reserve. Mr L. W. Keals, the chairman, presided. This will enable the present croquet green to be converted into a new tennis court for the tennis club. Messrs L. W. Reals, A. Anderson, and W. McKinney were appointed to select a suitable site for the new green. , , . It was decided to instal electric lighting in the domain pavilion.
