MARCH MEETINGS WHANGARATA ACTIVITIES MONTHLY MEETING HELD The March meeting of the Whangarita branch of the Women’s Division, was held this week. Mrs Smeed. in the absence of Mrs Ward, presided over a large attendance. Mrs W. 0. Hewitt of Tuakau, gave ar. interesting demonstration on making and changing a sick bed. She also showed many different types of bandaging. A flower competition was won by Mrs J. Fulton, with Miss Ward seccrd. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs Hewitt was thanked by the members for her instructive talk. THE PUKEKAWA BRANCH MARCH MEETING The president, Mrs K. D. Orr, presided over a good attendance of members and friends at the March meeting of the Pukekawa branch of the Women’s Division. A special welcome was extended to Mrs Hawke, one of the foundation members of the branch who has been absent for many months owing to illness. Messages were received congratulating the branch on gaining second prize in the window display competition at Franklin A. and P. show. The president gave a brief account of the last Waitemata Provincial Executive meeting held in Auckland recently. Suggestions for improving meetings during the coming year were received from members. Mrs El win gave an interesting demonstration of papier mache work, exhibiting several finished articles. Competitions resulted as follows: — Knitting: Mrs K. D. Orr 1 and 2; best bloom, Mrs K. D. Orr 1, Miss Mason 2; asters, Mrs Eyre 1, Mrs Whitehead 2, Miss Mason 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs Knight, Mrs Ramsey and Miss Smeed.
