Autumn Wedding of Old-World Charm

KEVEN—PERKINS beautiful bridal frocking HARMONY IN IHNK AND BLUE An aura of old-world charm surrounded the wedding of Wiiss Marjorie Perkins, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Perkins, King Street, and Mr Th.omas Edward Keven, elder son of Mr and Mrs T. E. Keven, West Street, which was solemnised in St. James’ Presbyterian Church, Pukekohe, on Wednesday evening.

The wedding aroused wide-spread interest throughout the district, and large numbers of well-wishers of the young couple were present. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock made on early Victorian lines in delphinium blue lace, patterned in leaf design, the full flowing skirt falling into a graceful train. The square neckline was finished with blue velvet, and the bodice relieved with frilled net and velvet tied in lovers' knots. The short puffed sleeves were edged with stiffened net, and she wore mittens of pale blue lace. Her billowing veil was" of misty blue tulle, and her top-knot, and sheaf of blue delphiniums. The bride was attended by her sister. Miss Torni Perkins, whose closej fitting frock was of candy nink emj broidered tulle. The hipline was de- ! fmed with a circle of lovers’ knots ! made in matching velvet. Her eircu- ; iar embroidered shoulder veil fell from a top knot of pink rose buds, and she carried a sheaf of roses. The wedding music was played by Miss N. Perkins, sister of the bride, whose gown of dull finished crepe was I patterned in floral effect of rose and mauve. The service was conducted by the Rev. J. Paltison, the church choir assisting with vocal music. The church had been beautifully decorated in pink | and blue hydrangeas. 1 The best man was Mr William Kev- ! en, the groom’s brother, Messrs G. I Noble and Roy Brinsden acting as ! ushers.

THE RECEPTION BEAUTIFUL DECORATIONS FUNCTION AT BRIDE’S HOME The reception was held at the residence of Hie bride’s parents where the rooms had been effectively decorated in pink and blue, tlie soft colours blending harmoniously with the fcocking of Hie bridal party. Bowls of pink phlox and charm dahlias were artistically arranged in the rooms.

The guests were received by Mrs Perkins, the bride’s mother, at the head of the stairs, over which a large white and silver wedding bell had been suspended. Her frock was of brown figured satin, with a wool-lace coat to tone. Her shoulder spray was in autumn tints, and her tricornered toque of brown velvet. The bride’s mother was assisted by Mrs T. E. Keven, the bridegroom’s mother, who wore black embossed georgette with a smart flowered toque to lone. Also present was Mrs Keven, sem\, of Thames, who wore a black frock and black osprey bat. The usual toasts were honoured, Mr E. Perkins making an efficient toastmaster. The beautiful three-tier wedding cake was then cut. After the reception, dancing was enjoyed by Hie guests. Many beautiful and useful gifts were received by the young couple, Including a number of cheques. Among Ihe many messages of congratulation, which were read by Mr W. Keven, was a radiogram despatched by Miss K, O’Connor from the Awatea. When Mr and Mrs T. E. Keven jnr. left on a tour embracing Nelson and the Marlborough Sounds, the bride was wearing a grapewine travelling ensemble with beaver lapels, and accessories to tone.
