THE BOMBAY CLUB OPENING DATE OGTOBER 1 The annual meeting of the Bombay Tennis Club was held at the club’s pavilion and was well attended. The president, Mr W. N. Lowrie, in his report stated that the past season was very successful and enjoyable, largely due to the fine surface of the courts which were completely re-sur-faced with emoleum prior to the last opening date. The courls were second to none in the Franklin association. The president, congratulated Ihe B team on winning the MooreSchlaepfer shield, and the C team on winning its section without a loss and for being runner-up for the Massey cup. An endeavour was made by the secretary to arrange matches for noncompetition members during the season. Many friendly inter-club matches were also played. The president extended the best wishes of the club to those members who had left the district. In conclusion the president thanked the auditor, the Press for its continued courtesy, and the secretary and (lie treasurer for their good work. Officers elected for the ensuing year were: Patron, Mr A. G. A. Sexton, ALP.: president, Mr W. N. Lowrie; vice-presidents, Mrs Burgess, Messrs N. Hunter, G. T. Proude, V. L. Pegler; secretary, Mr P. Smyth ; treasurer, Mr M. Best: auditor, Mr J. G. M. Butterworth: club captain, Mr N. Gurnmer; vice-captain, Mr P. Smyth; selector, Mr P. Smyth; management committee, Messrs W. N. Lowrie, P. Smyth, M. Best, S. G. Shaw, N. Gurnmer, A. P. Dorrian; lady representatives, Mrs N. Gurnmer, Miss B. Carter: delegates to the Franklin Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs M. Best and N. Gurnmer.
