LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

THE PAPAKURA CLUB.

SENIOR B’S DEFEATED

For three seasons the Papakura senior B Rugby league team has not been beaten, but on Saturday it met its Waterloo at the hands of a slightly superior team in Point Chevalier, at Prince Edward park, Papakura. Point Chevalier won by eight points to three. Weather conditions were trying and the going was heavy, while frequent rain squalls were unpleasant for all concerned.

Point met Papakura’s famous team on one of its off days, or a different story would have been told. To have got into a third season without a loss is a noteworthy achievement. There is one consolation however, and that is that although admitting the team’s rather poor showing, its opponents from the City were very little better when it came to giving an exhibition of good football. For Papakura “Snowy” Cossey acquitted himself well in the back line, and scored the points for his side. Buchan and McLarin scored tries for Point Chevalier, the latter converting his try. Results of the games in which other club teams were engaged are as follow: —,

Third grade A. —Papakura a bye. Third grade B. —Won by default from Newton.

Fifth grade,.—Papakura 6 beat North Shore 0.

Sixth grade.—City 11 beat Papakura 7.
