FOOTBALL DANCE.
LAST NIGHT’S FUNCTION. TROPHIES PRESENTED. Tile Papakura League Football Club held its first dance of the season, in the Regent theatre, Papakura, last evening. In spite of had weather, the function proved very successful. The Franklin Burns Club orchestra, under the direction of Mr L. Ballard, played popular music. Mr 11. Hawley made an efficient master of ceremonies. Mr B. Davidson; the popular ex-in-ternational League player, presented to Mr E. Pope (captain) the Foster memorial shield which the senior B team has won four times out of live; also the Walmsley shield, competed for the first time and won by the senior B team. Mr Pope expressed his thanks to Mr Davidson and said that this year the team would win the championship cup for sure. (Loud applause). Cheers were then given for the Papakura team. . Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss Longley and Mr Appleby, and Miss Wallis and Mr A. Brownlee. Among those present were: Mesdames B. Davidson, N. Clews, L. Bell, Misses Cooper, Rogers. I.
