TEAMS CHALLENGE MATCH WAIUKU BEATS ONEWHERO. DRAW FOR SECOND ROUND. The first round ol' the Franklin Golf Association’s teams challenge cup competition, played under Kirk-Windeyer rules, was decided during the weekend when Waiuku met and defeated Onewhero at Waiuku by four games to 2. . Results are as follows, Waiuku names being mentioned first: —
Foursomes: G. E. Howden and W. S. Colbeck beat K. Caldwell and S. Cronin, four and 2; T. Herrold and J, Forbes beat G. L. Martin and E. Cameron, 4 and 2.
In the afternoon singles were played and resulted: Howden lost to Caldwell, 3 and 1: Colbeck beat Cronin, 2 up; Herrold beat Martin, 2 and 1; Forbes lost to Cameron, 1 down.
Waiuku goes forward to the second round, which will be played on June 9, the draw being as follows: Papakura plays Waikare, at Papakura; Waiuku plays Manukau, at Waiuku. PLAY AT PUKEKOHE. DEFEAT OF ONEWHERO. A match between the Pukekohe and Onewhero teams was played at Pukekohe on Saturday, Pukekohe winning by four games to three. Details are, Pukekohe names being mentioned first: Johnson and Coyle lost to Caldwell and Cronin, 4 and 3; Mills and Moore beat Martin and E. Cameron, 3 and 2; Schlaepfer and Payne beat L. Rose and D. Cameron, 2 and 1; Taylor and Marshall beat P. Taylor and Glasgow, 2 and 1; Bayly and Liddle lost to Wright and Gaskell, 1 down; Cooper and Walton beat Rapson and Crawford, 5 and 4; Johnson and Mahony lost to Bell and Snell, 3 and 2. PUKEKOHE LADIES’ CLUB. A WIN FOR MISS BAYLY.
Results of Friday’s and Saturday’s play in the bogey match arranged by the Pukekohe Ladies’ Club are as follow: —Miss J. L. Bayly, 8 down; Miss L. Potter, 8 down; Miss A. Potter, 8 down; Miss I. Hawke, 8 down; Mrs P. Mills, 10 down; Mrs C. Cooper, 10 down.
A count back over the last nine holes gave the honours to Miss Bayly. PLAY AT WAIUKU. Members of the Waiuku Golf Club played the first round of the Duff cup handicap match on Saturday. Results are as follows: Hughes beat Flavell, 3 and 1; Arkle beat Buttimore, 2 and 1: Jerram beat Smith, 1 up; North beat Armitage, 1 up. The best cards for a bogey match played by other members were returned by the following: Cobleck, A Herrold and C. E. Howden, all 2 down
