Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union,

THE PUNI BRANCH. ft SUCCESSFUL ENTERTAINMENT. LAST WEEK’S -FUNCTION. A successful entertainment arranged by the Puni branch of the Women's Division, Farmers’ Union, and presented by the Pukekohe East branch’s troupe of entertainers, took place in the Puni hall on Thursday evening. The entertainment warranted a much larger attendance which .undoubtedly, was affected by counter-attractions. However an enjoyable evening was spent. The feature was the musical comedy entitled “Aunt Polly’s Patchwork Quilt,” which was presented at Ihe Pukekohe East division’s second birthday celebrations and reported in the Times. The soloists were Mrs W. Morgan. “Premonitions”; Miss G. Benjamin, “Quilting”; Miss V. King and Mrs Coutts, “Moon Lady”; Miss V. King and Miss M. Johnston, “Adventures”; Miss D. King, ‘When I Wore My Bose Satin Gown”; Miss D. King, “My China Cup for Tea”; Miss M. Robinson, “The Garden of My Heart”; Miss V. King and Miss M. Robinson, “The Road to Happiness,” while Miss H. Robinson played the accompaniments, and Mrs Benjamin was stage manager.

The presentation of this little comedy proved that the Pukekohe East Division leads other branches in the matter of talent, for difficult as the comedy was, it was exceptionally well presented by a talented cast which individually and collectively played its part with outstanding skill and ability. Team work appeared to be a predominating spirit, while in the director (Mrs Benjamin), the performers have implicit confidence. Pukekohe East’s efforts over the past year or so proves what can be done with a little organising and under capable leadership. “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic” and “The Old Lady Obliges,” items presented at 'Pukekohe East, were repeated at Puni. The programme was supplemented by items by Mr Cyril Walker, Mr, T. H, Midgley, Misses V., D. and Mr H. King. The performers were loudly applauded for their efforts. The singing of the National Anthem concluded a memorable evening. The visitors were entertained at supper by the Puni branch, when the president, Mrs Preece .thanked the Pukekohe East members for staging such a splendid entertainment.
