Relief Works in Franklin County.
TOTAL OF 390 ENGAGED. VACANCIES IN CAMPS. 1 “ 1 That there were 390 unemployed engaged on relief works in the Franklin county on October 20, was reported by the engineer, Mr J. F. McArthur, to Monday’s meeting of the county council. His monthly report on the subjeot indicated that there were 215 men working from camps and an extra 35 required to fill these camps. Working on farms were 15 men in camps and four others had been applied for. Since last meeting 16 men had left camps and 23 extra arrived. Local relief workers totalling 160 were drawn from the following centres: Papakura, 26; Drury, 22; Paerata, 4; Patumahoe, 12; Pokeno, 6; Waiuku, 9; Moumoukai, 1; Tuakau, 9; Pukekohe and Buekland,, 56; Meroer, 2; Hunua, 4; Awhitu, 6; Bombay, 3.
