MEETING OF AGENCY. CHAIRMAN RE-ELECTED. LECTURES TO CHILDREN. At the first meeting of the committee ol‘ the Franklin agency , of the Automobile Association, Auckland, held at Pukekohe on Tuesday evening, there were present: Messrs H. Curd, G. T. Proude, W. H. Pellow, I. G. Wymer, G. S. Rose, A. B. Ghezzi, L. C. Logan, R. C. Clark, M. S. Gamppell (agent), and Patrol C. D. Walker. An apology for absence was received • from Mr C. A. Bennett.' * Mr Curd was re-elected chairman and Mr Bennett deputy-chairman. ' A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mr D. Makgill of Waiuku, who was a member of the association. It was agreed to forward a letter to the Franklin County Council engineer, Mr J. F. McArthur, wishing him a speedy recovery from his illness. The dangerous nature of the road at Foy’s corner on the Puni road was discussed, and it was decided to write to the county council urging that early action be taken to have the road improved. „ Arrangements are to be made for a patrol of the association to deliver addresses to schoolchildren at. various times during the year, with a view to minimising motor accidents in which children might be involved proceeding to and from school. Members of the committee brought before the notice of the patrol several places where warning signs could be erected to advantage. The question of satisfactory sanitary arrangements at Port Waikato was discussed, as this site is becoming increasingly popular. During the Christmas and New Year holidays it was estimated that over 2000 people were camped there. It was considered that an effort should be made by local people patronising the camp site to get in touch wiht, oymers and lesees of land, with a view to having someone in authority to ensure that the camp grounds are kept in satisfactory order.

Mr Campbell reported that the agency had embarked on a membership campaign with a view to securing at least 250 members by August 31 next, in order to bring the Franklin membership to the 1000 mark.
