One quart peeled and sliced apples; put in greased tin and sprinkle with 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon; cover tin and partly cook apples; then mix into batter " cup Bisley's Wholemeal, 2 cup floui'i, 1 cup sugar, i cup miilk, 2 egg yolks, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 teacups baking- powder, and h teaspoon vanilla. Pour batter over half-cooked apples, and bake. When done turn on to large plate. This puts apples on top. Beat 2 egg whites and 4 level tablespoons sugar, spread on apples, and return to oven to cook meringue.
