COLLISION SEQUEL.
MOTORIST BEFORE COURT. FINED ON TWO CHARGES. As tlis result of colliding with a pedestrian at Mercer, James Keogh was charged in the Pukekohe Court to-day with negligent driving, driving or a footpath, and failing to keep to the left of the centre line. A plea of guilty to the last two charges was entered. Constable H. J. Olsen stated he had received a complaint thaF defendant had driven a car on to the footpath and had collided with a pedestrian. When seen, defendant stated he was only stopping in front of his shop. There was no watertable between the metal road and the concrete footpath, both being on the same level.
Counsel pointed out that defendant had drawn up at his shop and had simply faced the wrong direction. Another car blocked his way and he had run one wheel two feet on to the footpath. The pedestrian had run out of defendant's shop, bumping into the car.
The charge of negligent driving being withdrawn., fines of 10/- and costs were imposed on each of the other charges.
