GOLF NOTES.

PUKEKOHE TOURNAMENT. VICTORY FOR JOHNSON. The Pukekohe Golf Club's open tournament held on King's Birthday, attracted 33 competitors from the Waiuku, Akarana, Papakura, Onewhero and Pukekohe clubs. The vice-presi-dent, Mr C. G. Johnson, apologised for the absence of the president, Mr James Roulston, who was indisposed. He welcomed the visitors and thanked them for their support. He also thanked the captain. Dr. J. McWhirter, the secretary, Mr H. E. Kissling, and the ladies for their efforts to make the tournament a success.

Mr Greenbank (Akarana) replied on behalf of the visitors. He said that all were favourably impressed with the links. If possible he would return next year with a number of the Akarana club players. Trophies won during the day were presented by Mr Johnson. The 36-holc medal match, comprising both morning and afternoon rounds, was won by Johnson (Pukekohe). with a score of 101. Greenhank (Akarana). 1'65, was runner-up. In the bogey match, comprising the morning's play, McDcrmott (Onewhero) and Johns (Pukekohe) tied for first place, each 1 up. The play-off was won by McDermott. The afternoon medal match was by Snell (Pukekohe), who returned a card of 64.

LIVINGSTONE CUP MATCH.

BISH RETURNS BEST CARD

There w-as a good attendance of golfers on the Pukekohe links on Saturday, when the first round for the Livingstone cup was played. S. Bish with a nelt score of 06, returned the best, card. Details are:—

The Pukekohe Ladies' Golf Club played'the first round for the Brosnahan spoons on Saturday. The following returned the best cards and qualified: — Mrs Pike, 98, 24 —74 ; Miss Jefferis, 99, 20—79; Miss Campbell, 108, 28— 80; Miss R. Johns; 97, 1G—81; Miss Kensington, 107, 26 —81; Miss Raynes. 109, 26—83; Mrs Maddison, 105, 20 — 85: Mrs Moore, 113, 28 —85.. In the first round Mrs Pike plays Mrs Moore; Miss Raynes plays Miss Campbell: Migs Kensington plays Miss R. Johns; Mrs Maddison plays Miss Jefferis.

The draw for Saturday will be announced in Wednesday's Times instead of Friday in future.

THE ONEWHERO CLUB.

PLAY FOR PRESIDENT'S TROPHY

Great enthusiasm prevails on the Onewhero links and a marked improvement in play is revealed. The first round for the president's trophy resulted as follow:

Allen (21) beat MeNaught (34) 7 and 6: Wright (32) beat Pattullo (36) 6 and :>: McDermolt (24) beat Lindberg (36), 3 and 2; Taylor (28) beat Glasgow (31). 6 and 5. The semifinals will be played next Saturday. Other members of the club will play a mixed foursomes handicap ■ match oyer nine holes.
