STOCK ROUTE.
PAPAKURA TO AUCKLAND.
\ NEW PROPOSAL
Stating that it had made several representations to the Government on the subject of the stock route from Papakura to Olahuhu, the Great South Road Beautifying Council advised the Papakura Town Board on Monday evening that up to the present its appeal had met with very little support. As the question of the cost seemed to be the main delay, the council suggested that as an alternative the local bodies interested might agitate for the removal of the saleyards to a more .suitable position further south. By doing this the present danger would be removed, thus placing the various local authorities in a better position to effect improvements along the road.
It was pointed out that the removal of the saleyards would also mean the removal of the abbatoirs. No action Was taken.
