AREA EXTENDS.
SUBURBAN RAILWAY FARES.
TUAKAU NOW EMBRACED
A further sign of the growth, of Greater Auckland is the decision of the Railway Department to extend the benefit of suburban fares to residents of Tuakau, 36 miles south from the city on the, Main Trunk line. The scheme for the lengthened area came into operation yesterday.
Hitherto the suburban service on the southern line has ended at Drury. Now the service will benefit passengers to and from Paerata, Pukekohe, Buckland and Tuakau. The return secondclass fare between Pukekohe and Auckland will be 4/9-' and between Tuakau and Auckland 5/6.
The Department has reason for believing that the extended facilities will be greatly appreciated by residents of the area to be served. The new scale of fares betw-een Auckland or New’market and stations Paerata to Tuakau inclusive, is as follow :
To or From, Single Fares. , First Second. Paerata . . .. 4/6 2/9. Pukekohe .. .. 4/9 3/Buckland 5/3/3 Tuakau , . .. 5/6 3/6 To 'or From, Return Fares. First Second. Paerata . .. 6/9 4/6 Pukekohe . . .. 7/3 4/9 Buckland .. .. 7/6 5/Tuakau . .. 8/3 5/6
