QUEEN CARNIVAL. FUNDS FOR SCHOOL TENNIS COURT. ■ Own Correspondent.) A Queen Carnival to raise funds to privide for a tennis court and other improvements to the grounds of the Waiuku central school resulted in Miss Gwen Cameron, 8309 A'otes being elected queen, Miss Elaine Barriball, 6953 votes being second and Beth McNaughten 3303 votes third. It is expected that when the coronation is held on Monday night, that about £SO will be in hand for the work desired to be completed. Musical and elocution competitions between the pupils of the Waiuku school and the schools of the surrounding districts were held on Friday and Saturday and were well patronised by the public. The competitions were promoted by Mr W. S. Bridle, the object being to raise funds to purchase typewriters for the Waiuku District High School. Mrs A. Griffiths of Auckland, acted as judge for all the competitions. The following are Ihe results:—
