GOLF NOTES.
THE PUKEKOHE CLUB. BEG&-HANKIN CUP. The golf clubs in most parts of New Zealand have been able to commence play unusually early this season, due to the evry dry spell. The Everslie club is taking tire opportunity to hold a tournament during the Easter holidays. Several members of the Pukekohe club have nominated at this country fixture, while six members will be competing at the Middlemore tourney on April 7, 9 and 10. Matches for the Begg-Hankin challenge cup have already been played. Last week Coyle and Maddison defeated Johnson and Short, and the later held the cup for some consi ierable time and won several hard games. Since Coyle and Maddsion won the cup from this pair Lally and Lawson challenged and were beaten by 3 and 2. Kissling and Schlaepfer are the next aspirants for the honour of holding the trophy. TFTe season list of fixtures opens with a boagey match on April 14, folowed by the qualifying round for the president's trophy, a week later. Usually the president's match was first on the list. This year it was decided, in view of the importance of the event and the value of the trophy donated, to allow members a few days to strike form so as to make the competition more keen. Hence the date for playink the qualifying round was altered.
