MOUNTED RIFLES CAMP.
TEN DAYS' TRAINING
(Own Correspondent.)
The Auckland Mounted Rifles Regiment went into camp at the Recreation Reserve on Monday, under glorious weather conditions. This year the tents are pitched on the rise adjoining the Hospital ground and in event of wet weather the choice of this site will be found most beneficial owing to the splendid natural drainage. When all the units are under canvas- it is estimated that between 350 and 400 men will be in training. Lt. Colonel M. Aldred, O. C. the regiment, is in charge of the camp, with Major Stevens as second in command. Capt. Johnson s adjutant, Lieutenant Moncrief assistant adjutant, and Sgt. Major Milne camp Sgt-Major. The A. B. and C. squadrons are commanded by Capt. Wyatt Captain Guartley and Capt. O. Henry .respectively. Capt. Potter will be in charge of the Viekers Gunners. The 3rd Auckland Mounted Rifles Band, under the leadership of Lieut. Stewart has arrived in camp. One of the most interesting features of the camp will be a mock battle which is to take place on Mr John Muir's property on Easter Tuesday.
