TO-DAY'S SITTING.
(Before Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M)
The regular sitting of tiie Pukekohe "Magistrate's Court was held this morning before Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M. Disorderly while drunk and with committing a breach of his prohibition order, were the text of charges preferred against James Downey.' Defendant who pleaded guilty, was fined ■5/- on the first charge and 10/- on the second. Fourteen days were allowed in which to pay up. C. J. Mitchell, baker of Pukekohe, was charged on the information of trie Inspector of Factories, with failing to keep his time and wages book properly entered up. Defendant did not appear.
The Inspector said defendant' had explained that on account of one of his bakers being indisposed and the consequent, rush of work occasioned [through this he had not entered up the book. He had no previous trouble with defendant.
A fine of £1 and £1 costs was imposed. T. M. Short, butcher of Paturnahoe. was charged with failing to keep a time and wages book. The inspector said that defendant was now complying with the act.
Mr B. G. Foster in pleading guilty said the trouble arose over an employee who was employed on the farm and in. the butchers shop. The Magistrate. A sort of public utility man rather than a tradesman. Mr Foster: That is so. A fine of £1 with 22/- costs was imposed.
