TOWN BOARD AFFAIRS.

THE REGULAR MEETING. GENERAL. BUSINESS. The fortnightly meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held on Monday, the following being present:—Messrs, j. McCall (chairman). .1. B. Page. W. Rhind, W. C. Wood. (1. Boagey. 11. E. McEntee, A. L. Cooper (clerk), and .1. E. Morrileau (foreman). ,/ Tho 'secretary .of the commission of inquiry inlo the , metropolitan water supplies for Auckland offered to furnish a copy of the ;report upon the proceedings at £G per copy, provided orders were received for live, or £lO if only three copies were ordered. — Received. ....... Mr. J. E. Woo.dhouse, Clark Road, asked for some improvements to be effected to the entrance to his property.—Referred to works committee. The Chief Inspector of Explosives advised that the scale of'fees.generallyadopted by local authorities for the storage of dangerous goods, such as petrol, was as follows:—-Up to 225 gallons, £1; 225 to 800 gallons, £2: 800 to 2000 gallons, £0; over 2000 gallons, £5. —Received. The District Land Registrar gave notice that it was proposed to bring the property of Mrs. S. A. Mack under the provisions of the Land Transfer Act, 1915.—Received.

Messrs. J. Evans and A. B. Bradbury, King Edward Street, drew attention to the bad state of the road leading to their properties, and suggested that it be metalled. —Miv ; McEntee stated that the road was practically the worst in the board’s area.—The matter was referred to the works committee with directions to undertake repair work. —Mr. C. C. Tueley also communicated with the board on the same matter.

The Railway Department forwarded the lease for the fire brigade station site for execution.—Referred to the tire brigade management committee for perusal arid a report. ' / Messrs. Abraham and Williams advised that they could supply “Colfix,” as recently tested by the board, at 1/6 per gallon on truck, Auckland. — The:: works committee was asked to report upon the experimental ' Stretch of footpath coated with “Colfix.” The foreman (Mr. Morrileau) reported that 14 motorists had been speeding on the Papakura " c T'UrK)iA,of the Great South Road, and lour cyrilists prosecuted for footpath riding.—i-The chairman expressed his satisfaction with* the result. —The Rev. Mr. Wood said he appreciated the man r ,ner in which the foreman had undertaken his duties as traffic inspector. He considered that both Mr. Morrileau anct bis assistant should be given some remuneration on account of the additional work it entailed. —Mr. McEntee congratulated the foreman, and said it was satisfactory to know that offending motorists had been brought to task.—The matter was referred to the finance committee for a report.

The hoard decided to call tenders for the erection of $ shed to he utilised for the storage of implements, and Mr. McEntee was requested to prepare plans of the proposed structure. The Rev. Mr. Wood stated that entrances were required to the properties of Messrs. Busing and Schmidt.— The chairman, in reply, said he had authorised the spreading of metal at the spots, referred to. At the instigation of Dr. Page, the works committee was asked to report upon the area inundated in Grove Road.
