PAKEHA AND MAORI. EXCHANGE BLOWS IN KING STREET At the Police Court this morning, before Messrs J. Patterson and F. Perkins, J.PFs, two men, one a native, were charged with a breach of the peace. Constable O’Donnell, who effected the arrest, stated that the two men were surrounded by a crowd of spectators and were standing toe to toe in front of the hotel, lashing away at each other. Apparently they had had some drink and had started an argument, with the result that they thought they would finish it with a bout of flstcuffs.

After carefully considering the case the Bench recorded a conviction against Robert Lang, with a fine of £i, while the Maori, Jack Rawiri, was convicted and prohibited .
