PLAY FOR GILMOUR CUP,

FINAL MATCH OF SEASON.

A WIN FOR (HOWICK GLOB

Howick won the third match of the season for the Gilmour Cup by defating Papatoetoe on the Howick green on March Ist by 76 points to 72. The cup, however, is still held by l Papatoetoe which won the previous two matches, scores being: Ist match : Papatoetoe 81 ; Howick 75 ; second match : Papatoetoe 99; Howick 63. The total points won for the season are : Papatoetoe 252 ; Howick 214.

The weather was splendid for the final match and the greens much better than when the first match was played two months ago. Hambrook and Johnston were skipping the Howick team, which on the first occasion were skipped by Gilmour and Johnson. Details of the play are

Second round : Bricked, Burt, Hughes, Johnson 15, lost to Cowling, McKay, Nesbitt, Wilson 16. Kennedy, Allen, Bates, iHambrook 15, lost to Gane,, Runciman, Tidmarsh, Knight 25. Totals were : Howick 76 ; Panatoetoe 72.

Howick won the third match for the Papatoetoe Bowlers’ Cup, comptede for in conjunction with the Gilmour Cup, and this establishes the title of the Howick Croquet Club to the cup for the ensuing year. This is the third season that the cup has been won by (Howick. The scores were: Howick 274; Papatoetoe 22!), and for the two previous matches —Howick 266, Papatoet )e 211 (first match) ; Howick 252, Papatoetoe 270 (second match). Next year the first matches for both cups will be played on the Papatoetoe green. The following were the results of the various games :—Mrs Wyatt and Mrs Roberts (Howick) 66 beat Mrs F‘.
