BRITAIN STILL BEST TRADE PARTNER FOR N.Z.
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 26. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Cullen, opening the conference of the National Dairy Federation to-day, urged the importance of “ sticking to Britain” in the. matter of trade. “ We. need jute, and India is asking for fats. We need jute for sacks of all kinds in this country, but is it right to take away from our ou’n kith and kin in Britain? ” asked Mr Cullen, who said he thought the importance of markets outside the United Kingdom was exaggerated' “ We will stick to Britain through the years of lean and plenty, and Britain, through years of lean and plenty, will stick to us,” he said. The chairman of the conference, Mr F. Parsons, addressing the delegates later, said that further markets should be explored. In a few years New Zealand would have a surplus for which a market would be needed.
