BOWLERS DISCUSS REPRESENTATION ON COUNCIL
Delegates at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association, begun in Dunedin yesterday, were occupied last night and for most of this morning discussing a remit from the Manawatu Centre concerning representation on the council. The remit was as follows'That the annual meeting of the association should strongly consider the granting of full representation of the whole of the centres on the New Zealand council, as was done on all associations, such as the New Zealand Rugby Union, throughout New Zealand. This was found workable in all other associations and it should be applicable to bowling. The present system of grouping did not go far enough towards full representation. The remit was withdrawn and a subcommittee, consisting of the following members, was appointed to investigate the terms of the remit: The president, Mr J. •). Davis; Dr R. E. Austin, Messrs C. A. Howarth, V. R. Smith, and W. J. Short. A motion to eliminate the rebate of IJd a member on the capitation fee paid by clubs to the New Zealand Bowling Association was defeated. It was decided that the capitation fee of 6d a member paid by clubs to the New Zealand association would be reduced to 41d if paid by December 31 this year. In accordance with a remit from the Auckland Centre proposing an alteration to the rules covering conditions of play it was decided that the Tournament Committee would have full power to alter or amend the programme, and dispense with bowling costume or any part of the costume, as may be. deemed necessary should conditions be unfavourable.
