Carwardine, Mr-E. H. Russell, Mr G. AVright, Mr N. M. Aryde, Mr E. J. AA 7 ard, Mr AV. Heath. Passengers for the north to-day were Mr AV. R. Mathieson (Christchurch) , Mr H. B. Cassie, Mr F. C.) Edmonds, Mrs M. F. > Parker and infant, Mr A. F. Hunter, Mr St. O. Ferguson, Mr E. G. Norman, Mr C. R. Ingram, Mr P. A. Smithells, Mr A. H. Herman (Wellington), Mr A. G. Hewitt, Sister Pascaline. Mr C. D. Irwin, Mr J. Crawford (Auckland), Mrs J. Moir (Tauranga). Mr P. B. Watts, president of the New Zealand Junior Chamber, of Commerce, arrived in Dunedin yesterday, and was the guest of the. local Junior. Chamber at a luncheon in the Tudor Lounge. ■ The president of the. Otago-Southlancr Manufacturers’ Association, Mr J. A.Scouler, the vice-president, Mr T. G. Tomkins, and the secretary, Mr F. L. Hitchens, will leave by air for Wellington on Tuesday to attend a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation. Among the business to be considered are industrial problems arising from the electric power position. „ ■ The president of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, Mr C. J. Wood, left this morning for Wellington to attend a meeting of. the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. Sir Richard Barrett-Lennard. Bart., of Norfolk, accompanied by. Lady Bar-rett-Lennard, will arrive in Dunedin to-night on a short visit. A director of the Norwich Union Life and Fire Insurance Societies, Sir Richard is also the accredited representative of the association of British Savings (Banks, London, on whose behalf he recently attended the centennial celebrations of the Auckland Savings Bank, and he. is vice-chairman of the East Anglian Trustees’ Savings Bank.. On Friday the visitors will be entertained at morning tea by .the Mayor,; Mr Cameron. The Otago Swimming Centre at its roeeing last night decided to forward the name of Mr E. C. Isaacs to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association with the suggestion that he be nominated for «the position of manager of the New Zealand team for the Olympic Games in London in 1948. Mr Isaacs, who has been secretary of the Otago Swimming Centre for the past 20 years, was manager of the New Zealand swimming team at the British , Empire Games in Sydney in 1938. in which year he was also New- Zealand, selector. He is the president of the Otago Council of Sport, and has been associated with many other sports organisations*
