TEN-WICKET WIN FOR ENGLAND IN SECOND TEST

(Rec. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. England defeated South Africa in the second test by 10 wickets. Edrich and Compton, whose record stand put England in a winning position, again starred on the final day. Edrich had a share in the dismissal of the five out of six South Africans who were out before lunch. He bowled Nourse with the first ball of the day, and brilliantly caught the next two batsmen to go. Compton, with leg*-breaks, dismissed Dawson and Harris in quick succession. Mitchell played a grand innings for tlie tourists, but defeat was inevitable at lunch, when the team was still 21 behind England’s first innings with four wickets to fall. South Africa averted an innings defeat largely due to' Rowan’s stand of 38 before the side was dismissed. Hutton and Washbrook scored the .necessary runs.
