SESSION OPENS IN SUNSHINE AND SHOWERS

(Special.) WELLINGTON, June 25. Occasional sunshine and showers marked the formal opening of New Zealand’s twenty-eighth, Parliament this afternoon by the Governor-Gene-ral, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C. Drawn up fronting Parliament Buildings, which were gay with bunting and national flags, was a guard of honour of Air Force personnel, comprising three officers and 100 other ranks, who showed that they fyad been splendidly trained for this first appearance in parliamentary ceremonial. After inspecting the guard, the GovernorGeneral, who was accompanied by Lady Freyberg met the members of both Houses in the Legisaltive Council. The chiefs of the three armed services attended His Excellency, and there was a large representation of the diplomatic service.
