Leading rates receive 16/9 per day; Petty Officers 18/6 per day, Chief Petty Officers 20/3 per day. Tradesmen receive an allowance of 1/- per day in addition. Married personnel are paid a marriage allowance. As an example of rates of pay, a single man on attaining Leading rate receives, with his kit allowance and one badge, £6-6-10 per week, which, taking into t account that food, clothing, and medical and dental services are provided, is " equivalent to a civilian wage of £9 per week. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE HOW TO APPLY Initial period of engagement for all branches is for 6 years except Stewards which is for 3 years, with the opportunity of re-engaging for a further term of service, and if required, up to 22 years? service to complete time for superannuation. For shorter periods superannuation contributions are refunded plus a gratuity. Full medical and' dental services are provided free and accommodation and food found.
