CITY CORPORATION EMPLOYEES

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —A correspondent lately Wrote at length, giving reasons why our City Corporation finos .it difficult to obtain labourers. One of his suggestions was that “ all corporation employees'should be supplied with a tram pass to-and from work.” “ What next!” I thought. But, sir,, is it so unreasonable after all? Our city engineer regularly travels on the hill bus on a pass. Probably other, high-up employees do likewise. It may be- a concession ticket for which they pay, and, which the busman is not required to punch. But why should the highlypaid have this privilege over the labourer, who k in his way serving the corporation as well as the city engineer. Of course, you may tell. me it is just a little concession like unto the special percentage a shop assistant may get on a purchase from his firm But if one gets it, why not' all corporation employees?:—l am, etc.. Puzzled Pensioner. April 28. .. [The Town Clerk declined to comment on this letter,—Ed. ‘ E.S.-’]
