LONDON’S STRIKES

MOST DOCKERS BACK AT WORK CORPORATION WORKERS CAUSE CONGESTION (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, May 2. Nine thousand of the' 10.000 London dockers who struck on April 28 in sympathy with the Glasgow dockers have returned to work, but a number of stevedores and lightermen who yesterday voted against resumption refused to work. • The Ministry of Labour stated that in view of the serious inconvenience arid losses which the closing of Tower 'Bridge to road traffic caused it had been decided to use alternative labour to operate the bridge. Reuter understands tlie bridge will be re-opened to-morrow with a naval contingent operating it. For 'four days traffic chaos greeted motorists going to work over London Bridge because Tower Bridge nearby had been closed by the strike of London City Corporation employees. Diversion of traffic over London Bridge caused worse traffic jams than ever this afternoon.
