WINTER SHOW

OPENS m MAY 30 The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by Messrs S. P. Cameron (president) in the chair, S. P. Mosley, J. A. Miller, D. B. Craighead, W. S. Thomson, W. H. Elliott, H. Turner, K. Clark, J. Fox. A. C. Begg, J.E. Brunton, J. Allison, J. Hellyer,-W. A. Yardlev, J. Young, E. M. North, W. Lee, A. Murray, R. T. Kirk,-J. F. Aubrey, P. R. Clarke. C. T. McCallum. aud C. 51. Bruce. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of Mr H. C. Holgate, who had been, a constant exhibitor at the society’s shows., Accounts amounting ,to £555 14s 8d were passed for payment. The bank balance was: Credit £529 16s 3d, and outstanding cheques amounted to £ls 3s. . , ; The rain fair statement of receipts and expenditure was received, and the Sheep Committee was asked to meet the stock 5 and station ‘ agents during the Winter Show week to discuss the question of holding the Burnside fair in the middle of March, and also the question of not offering dealers nuns at this fair- - . . ; , The arrival of a new motor mower for Tahuna Park was noted, and it was decided to sell the horse mower it was replacing. Fifteen new members were elected. Advice. was received from Mr Avra Warren, the American Minister in New Zealand, that be would officially open the Dunedin Winter Show on May 30. The layout of the exhibits and atr tractions at the show were approved, and it was noted that the dairy factory entries already to hand exceeded those of last year. ‘ The programme of entertainment was left to the .secretary to arrange in conjunction, .with the' broadcasting stations operating the model studio.. Summer Show dates and other subjects to be brought up at the Southern District Council meeting of the Royal Agricultural 5 Society were discussed and the delegates for this meeting were appointed.
