OBITUARY
MR JOHN STEWART The death occurred last Wednesday of Mr John Stewart, of Dunedin. Mr Stewart, who was employed by the City Corporation, was born at Ferniegair, near Hamilton, Scotland, in 1886. He was educated at Hamilton, and later served in the Army. He was recalled to the colours on the outbreak of the 1914-18 war, and served throughout with the 2nd pavalry Division, taking part in the retreat from Mons. He came to Dunedin 23 years ago, and became a member of a number of local organisations. He was keenly interested in Masonic, affairs, and also in the activities of the Scottish Societies. He was a member of the executive of the Imperial Ex-services’ Association. He is survived by his wife and four daughters—Mesdames E. White (Hamilton), J. Gardiner (Auckland), N. llutherford, and A. Young (Dunedin). The funeral took place on Saturday at the Anderson’s Bay Crematorium, members of the Imperial Ex-services’ Association marching, being the cortege. Members of the Dunedin Highland. Pipe Band played the Lament.
