MAGISTRATE’S COURT
. TUESDAY, APRIL 29. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) Dorothy Marguerite Scoular proceeded against Ronald Walton McLay before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, claiming possession of a house at Albert street. Mr E. J. Calder, who appeared for the plaintiff, stated that a judgment for the plaintiff against McLay for £7l 19s had been given on October 1, 1946. An arrangement was made with the defendant that he keep up current payments of rent,,and, at the same time, effect repairs to the house. A payment of £2O had been made on February 18 of this year, and nothing further had been received. '' The defendant stated that he had found it impossible to raise the balance of the sum. He said that he had recently completed some repairs to the house, and he estimated the value of the materials and his own labour to be worth approximately £24. He had no receipts for the purchase of the materials. . The Magistrate made an order for possession on or before June 10, Jhe warrant not to be issued provided that the defendant pay £5 before May 6, and £3 a week thereafter for as long as arrears were owing. JUDGMENTS BY DEFAULT. Judgment by default was given in the following cases:—Commissioner of Taxes v. Allan Edward Hardman, £7B 2s 7d, for unpaid social security taxes, with costs (£2 15s); E. C. Simpson v. S. I. Lloyd, £9, for unpaid rent of a garage, with .costs (16s) ; Sargood, Son. and Ewen ,Ltd. r. ,G. E. G. Hayward, £lO 5s Bd. for goods supplied, with costs (£1 6s). v
