FORESHORE DRIVE

ROAD THROUGH SANDHILLS DOMAIN BOARD PROPOSALS ' A chain-wide drive along the sand dunes from St, Clair to St. Kilda, with two access roads from Victoria road, is proposed by the Ocean Beach Domain Board, and its construction will be put in hand as opportunity offers. On the land side of the drive provision is made for 6even full-sized playing areas suitable for both winter ' and summer sports, two children’s playgrounds, a site for a -bowling / green at Moreau street, 20 additional tennis courts between Moreau street and the Battery, on extension to the exising croquet lawn, and a look-out at the St. Clair end adjoining Kettle Park. Consideration has been given to the development of the area to the east of the St. Kfida entrance, and it was decided to retain the area as a picnic and playing area. The following works are proposed for attention during the presentyear:—(a) Special display of flowers for centennial year at St. Kilda and other parts of the domain, (b) Clean up and level the area adjoining the Scout Hall at St. Clair, (c) Prepare and sow to grass a further portion of - the playing area adjoining the Watea Croquet Club, (d) Continue parking area on the sandhills ,at St. Kilda. (e) Marram grass planting on outer dune. •
