(From Our Correspondent.) CLUTHA R.S.A. The annual meeting of the Clutha District R.S.A. w’as held on Thursday night, and was largely attended, Mr P. McGregor presiding. The annual report referred to the passing of Messrs T. D. Pearson, W. G. Sinclair, L. A. Burberry, H. C. Holgate, and A. W. Arnold. At the start of the year the membership w r as 284 and 342 at the end of the year. However, with transfers to the new Clydevale association the roll had now decreased to 318. The financial statement showed £lsl 18s 2d in the general account, compared with £l2l 12s 6d at the start of the year; unemployed fund £6B 17s (£39 12s); social fund £59 7s lid (£44 7s 8d); hall fund, capital account £3.320 13s 9d (£246 14s 6d); hall fund, revenue account £73 4s 4d -(£46 9s). The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of office-bearers resulted: --President, Mr L. Bow’cott; senior vice-president, Mr James Gold; junior, Mr J. L. Guest; secretary and treasurer, Mr P. Shand; auditor, Mr S. Brown; committee—Messrs R. Chalmers, W. Mayne, R. Pearson, A. Maxwell, F. Waite, L. Duncan. J. Henderson, S. Brown. A welcome w’as extended Mrs C. Wvber, who had recently been elected an honorary life member in recognition of the assistance she had given the association in various ways. Mrs T. D. Pearson was elected an honorary life tnember as a mark of appreciation of the work she had done on “ Poppy Day ” over a period of years and in other directions. . Some discussion took place on war memorials matters. The opinion was expressed that the matter of providing a memorial was the duty of the citizens and not the association. It was decided to thank members who had acted on the Memorial Committee, and .to inform those in charge that the association favoured the placing of names of those who. had been killed in the last war on the present memorial, but that the association would t-aki no further part in discussions on the question. HOCKEY. Mr F. Cheyne presided over the annual meeting of South Otago Women’s Hockey Association, held at Milton last week, when delegates from the Milton. Bruce, Kaitangata, Lawrence, and Balclutha Clubs were present. The balance sheet showed a slight debit on the season’s operations, but this was considered quite satisfactory in view of the fact that a team had been sent to the Dominion tournament at Christchurch. The following office-bearers were elected: —President, Mr F. Cheyne; vice-president, Mr B. Hood: secretary and treasurer. Mr J. Purvis. It was decided to commence fixtures on May 10. entries to close on May 2 It was also decided to hold the open seven-a-side tournament on the King’s ißirthdav this year, and to play a match with Maniototo on a date to be arranged. BOWLIN'” The South Otago bowling season wa> brought to a close on Saturday, when a champion of champions rink tournament was played on.the Clinton green. Only four teams took part, the clubs represented being Clinton, Balclutha, Kaitangata, and Milton. Weather conditions w.ere unfavourable, rain falling practically all the time, although it was not as heavy as in other parts of the district. The result was a straightout win for the Milton four (J. T. Wilson, J. Knewstubb, W. Dee, and A. Vidal),.who won all three games, the other rinks only winning one game each.' FOOTBALL. South Otago competition matches commenced on Saturday, under unfavourable weather conditions: Results to hand are:—Clutha Seniors beat Clutha Valley, 14-8; Gatlins seniors beat Clinton, Toko, seniors beat Crescent; Clutha IT. beat Star. 8-6; S.O.H.S. beat Clutha ITT., 48-0.
