HARRIER SEASON

WEEK-END RUNS Civil Service Club.—The Civil Service harriers commenced their run from 10 Agnes street, Moniington. They ran to E raser’s Gully, then along the Kaikorai Valley road', and home through Barr street. A steady pace was maintained by the fast pack. A short run li'ome by the juniors resulted:—A. McKernan 1, P. Fraser .2, J. Gow 3. The colts also held a short run, which resultedJ. Mason 1, W. Gibson 2, Galloway 3. Leith Club.—The Leith Harrier Club ran from the Ravensbourne Presbyterian Church Hall across country to St. Leonards and back along the road. Among those prominent, were M. Blackledge, G. Patrick. S. Baldwin, G. Strichman, andl J. Harneiss. Two colts who showed promise were R. Perry and J. Martin. The results of the runs home were, as follows:—Slow pack: S. Dawson 1, A. Cunningham 2, A. Donaldson 3. Fast pack: A, Forbes and D. Renwick (equal) 1, K. Campbell. 3. Anglican Club.—The Anglican harriers held their weekly run from the George Street School. Under Club Captain Mitchell,- they proceeded up the Leith Valley, skirted the Ross Creek reservoir, and ran through the bush to the mill. In the run home the fast pack was led by Jelley, Thompson, and Burridge. In the slow pack Richdale, Trezise, and Wilson were prominent. Mornlngton Club.—The Momington Club held its run from the George Street School. The slow pack, under the deputy captain, G. Hislop, ran up to Liberton, round Pine .Hill road, and home via Leith Valley. The results of the run home were:—C, Butler 1, K. Gardiner 2, R. Watkins 3. The medium pack, under the deputy captain, Rowley, ran up the Bullock Track and Balmacewen road to Wakari, then to the Ross Creek reservoir, and home through the Leith Valley. In the run home the leaders were J. McMillan, F. Rowley, and C. Jelley. The fast pack, under the captain, K. Turner, ran up the Bullock Track, along Cannington road, into the Leith Valley and up to Pine Hill, returning) through Dalmore. The rim resulted: — W. Burrows 1, A. J. Patton 2, J. Davidson 3. Celtic United.—The Celtic United harriers ran from the St. Clair Baths, three packs being formed. The fast pack had a hard run along the beach to St. Kilda. through Tomahawk, and on to Smaill’s Beach, returning by the same route. A fast run home held from St. Kilda resulted:—D. Hutton 1, B. Munro 2, J. McLaughlan 3. The 4low pack had an enjoyable run along the hills to Tunnel Beach, returning around thb golf links. No run “home waa held. The colts covered the same territory as the slow pack, F. Gfant, T, Williams, and E. Wood running well. gt. Kilda Club.—The St. Kilda Club (teld its weekly run from the Mornington School. The pack ran to the Kaikorai Valley, through Fraser’s Gully, and on to the Mount Grand

road, where the pack split up. The fast, pack, under Club Captain F. Napier, went to the reservoir, down the ammunition track, and back to t.be Kaikorai Valley. In the short run home R. Lumb was first, followed by T. Napier and W. E. Mackintosh. The slow pack’s run home resulted as follows:—A. Miles 1. D. Scammell 2, T. Currie 3. , _ Caversham Club.—The Caversham harriers held their run from the George Street School. Four packs were formed, and they proceeded through Woodhaugh up the Leith Valley back to Chingford, • and along the North road home. The results were as follows:—Fast pack: H. Lucas 1, B. Healey 2, J. Callinan 3. Juniors: G. Campbell 1, R. Duncan 2, K. Knox 3. Slow pack : F. McGregor 1, R. Ferens 2 N. Weatherall 3. Colts: R. Domigan 1, R. Cain 2. R. Dodds 3. Baptist Club The Baptist harriers ran' from the Sunshine Church Tinder the leadership of Club Captain Williamson. The captain and six colts proceeded to,Tomahawk Beach and Highcliff road, the leaders in the run home being R. Williams, J. Sanders, and D. Williams. The fast pack left Tomahawk Beach, and ran across country to the Peninsula monument. Places in the run home were gained by R. Cunningham,'F. Fraser, and D. Clark. Presbyterian Club. The Presbyterian Bible Class Harrier Club’s season was officially opened by the Rev. W. Morton Ryburn, at the St. Clair Church. The Rt Rev. H. Davies, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand' and the club president were also present. The. pack ran towards Blackhead, Tunnel Beach, and returned through Caversham. The results were as follows: Fast pack: G. Weedon 1, W. J. Schraeder 2, L. R. Murcott 3. Second pack: T. K. Cowan 1, W. A. MacIndoe 2, E. Green 3. Third pack: L. H-. Burgess 1, D. W.' Falloon 2, S M.
