NO STRIKE
(Rec. noon.) SYDNEY, March 6. ■ Miners at aggregate meetings yesterday voted overwhelmingly against an immediate general coal strike. At Newcastle and South Maitland there was a 6 to 1 majority against a general stoppage. Only a fifth of the New South Wales miners voted at the aggregate meetings. The vote was overwhelmingly in favour of resumption to-day, but it is believed that had more miners voted the result would have been even more

decisive, as the militants used the full weight of their voting strength. The decision against the strike was carried by 2,286 votes to 815. Miners in Victoria and Queensland, who total 8,000, are voting to-day. There were clear majorities on all fields, Cessnock leading with 481 to 10. If Bunnerong powerhouse can keep going to-day supplies of coal are assured, and Sydney will avoid a power black-out. '
