MUSIC TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION
The opening meeting for the year of the Music Teachers’ Association Students’ Club, was" held in the' Pioneer Women’s Hall on Saturday night with a rather small attendance, the president, Mr H. J. P, Matheson, presiding. The following musical programme was presented.—Piano solos: Pamela Barton, Waltz in Ab, Waltz in E minor (Chopin); lan Harvey, Adagio and Finale from Sonata Pathetique (Beethoven) ; John Matheson, Andante and Variations in F minor, (Haydn); Songs: lona Livingstone, Faith in Spring, To the Moon (Schubert) Phyllis (Anthony Young); Betty Naylor, Sleep, Pretty Ring Time, Passing By, Jillian of Berry (Peter Warlock). The accompanist was John Matheson. A short gramophone recital was also presented, and proved quite successful. These recitals will be continued at further meetings. Miss Phyllis 11. Jackson, who has been on the staff of the chemistry department at the Home Science School, University of Otago, has been appointed lecturer in principles of teaching at the school.
