ROYAL FAMILY'S TOUR GREETED BY TWENTY THOUSAND NATIVES (Rec. 11 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, March 4. Twenty thousand Transkeian natives from Tembuland, Pondoland, and East Griqualand, under Chief Sandile, greeted the Royal Family at King William’s Town, Cape Province, to-day. The King’s reply to Chief Sandile’s speech of welcome w'as translated into the Xosa language. • His Majesty warned the natives that if they did not heed the dangers of soil erosion and nurture the soil, “ neither you nor your children, nor your cattle, can live well.” The King took; nine gifts to the native chiefs, including a signed photograph of himself and the Queen, also silver medallions.
