POSTMAN’S LONG HIKE
EXPENSIVE IN FOOTWEAR (Rec. 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 17. George Lockwood, an Adelaide letter carrier, to-day completed a bike of 2,691 miles from Fremantle to Sydney in 97 days. He beat the record established in 1934 by 64 days. Lockwood said he had averaged 39, miles daily until lie reached Kalgoorlie, and frbm then on dropped to 30 daily. He wore out six pairs of boots and 12 pairs of socks.
