OLD FOLKS' TREAT

• -*— —-— ST. ANDREW’S SOCIETY Still hale and hearty in her hundredi-and-first year, Miss McFarlane was one of those who enjoyed the pleasant afternoon’s entertainment at the annual old folks’ treat held by the St. Andrew’s Society of Otago in the Crawford Lounge on Saturday. The large gathering of old people present joined in community singing led by Mr H. T. Bell and watched Scottish reels danced by Misses Wheeler, Weir, Taylor, and Renton. Other items on the programme were piano solos by Master Kerr, a demonstration of an old dance, the petronella, by members of the society, ,and a recitation by one of the old people present. Musical items by Mr Hargreaves (piano), and Piper Bruce Findlay also helped to make the afternoon a success.
