BOXING SEASON TO OPEN
' ■ "fr The box plan opens to-morrow for the first professional boxing contest of the season, when Noel Dornan, of Wellington, meets Frank Endacott, of Australia, over 12 rounds. Dornan is a young fighter for whom a great future is predicted, and Endacott is an aggressive type of fighter with a grea£ Australian record, lie is middleweight champion of the Royal Australian Navy, and fought a great draw with Dornan last season, in whac the Christchurch ‘ Press ’ termed “ The fight of the season.” Willie Jones, the American negro, will meet Bos Murphy in Wellington next Saturday, and will then be flown to Dunedin to appear in exhibition bouts in the Town Hall on Monday. His likely opponents are: K. Skinner, I. Dickison, and lan Oruickshank, the professional welter-weight. The amateur preliminaries are of a standard seldom seen outside New Zealand championships. Six first rate preliminary boxers are being .brought from Wellington to meet an Otago team, find the matches should be a highlight of the evening. There has been no increase in prices.
