DAVIS CUP
HEW ZEALAND TEAM
FIRST MATCH AGAINST NORWAY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Eet>. 17. R. S. McKenzie (Hutt Valley), J. E. Hobson (Otago), and J. A. Barry (Auckland) will comprise the New •Zealand team to participate in the 1947 Davis Cup competition. Announcing this to-night, Mr. A. G. Henderson, chairman of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, said the players would leave New Zealand on March 19 and would play their first match against Norway on or about : May 20. The members of the team would also take part in the Wimbledon championships in June and would participate in other tournaments in England. It was expected that they' would return to New Zealand about the end of July. Mi - Henderson also announced that all efforts to secure transport to ensure a visit by an Australian team this season had failed, and the proposed tour was definitely off.
