ATTITUDE UNCHANGED
WAITING FOR NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING (P.A.I AUCKLAND, Jan. 9. There will be no change in the attitude of the Waterside Workers’ Union in the waterfront dispute, at least until the Watersiders’ National Council meets at Wellington on Tuesday. This view was expressed to-day by the president of the Watersiders’ National Union, Mr H. Barnes. The Auckland Union held a stopwork meeting to-day, but it dealt mainly with ordinary union business and no new matters in relation to the dispute were considered. Mr Barnes, replying to yesterday’s statement by Mr Baxter, secretary of the Federation of Labour, maintained that his own account on December 30 of what happened in the negotiations in relation to the waterfront dispute was “ true and factual.”
