“HOLY WAR”
MOSLEM TRIBESMEN AND HINDUS NORTH-WEST FRONTIER TROUBLE (Rec. 12.50 p.m.) . LONDON, January 8. • The Indian Interim Government has taken stern measures to check a localised “ holy war ” by Moslem tribesmen from over the borders against Hindu settlers in the Hazara district of the North-west Frontier province, says the 1 Daily Mail’s ’ New Delhi correspondent. A raiding armed band of 2,U00 warriors has been loose for some weeks in the Hazara district, killing Hindus and burning villays and bazaars. The Indian army tenth division mobile units moved up from their base at Rawalpindi in an endeavour to mop up the raiders. Their tasks proved futile because snowfalls made the hilly tracks inaccessible.
