TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS
POSTPONEMENT FOR RAIN (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 9. The semi-finals in the singles of the New Zealand lawn tennis championships were set down to bo played at 11 a.m. to-day. Five minutes before that time down came the rain, and continued steadily into the ■ afternoon, causing postponement of - play. 'Although it was announced that the final decision on whether any matches would be played to-day would be made at 2 p.m., it seemed improbable that /the tournament could be continued until to-morrow morning.
