PRINZ EUGEN SINKS
AFTERMATH OF ATOMIC BOMB TESTS (Rec. 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 8. The former German cruiser Prinz Eugen, which survived both the atomic explosion tests at Bikini, suddenly sank on December 16. It is believed that the atomic explosion loosened the Prinz Eugen’s stern plates.. She makes the fourth large warship sunk by the underwater test. The others were the Arkansas, the Nagato, and the Saratoga.
